Your website is online, people are finding you, now it’s time to update it…. You want to post news, change some pictures, add a video, and manage your content. With WordPress websites, you have the power to do so easily from any web browser! This workshop will teach you how to maintain your site to keep it fresh, current and interesting to your visitors.
In this class you will get hands on experience with many of the tasks associated with updating a WordPress website, whether you built it yourself, or had it done for you. Among the topics covered in the workshop are: How create “Pages” and “Posts” and manage content on them; Using “Permalinks” and “Custom Links”; Adjusting Menus and Navigation; Adding Images /Videos; Maintaining your Image Gallery; Using “Categories”; How to edit content; and more…
By learning the simple skills in this workshop, you can save a lot of money by doing updates yourself. Or, if you do choose to have someone else handle your website maintenance for you, you will have a better understanding of what is possible and the many options that WordPress gives you. This class includes working on your own laptop on an actual WordPress website (your own, or a practice site we will set up for you) so that you can experience in real-time how these techniques are applied. You’ll be amazed how quickly you catch on!
To be ready for this class, you must already be familiar with the skills in the “Getting Started with WordPress” class. You will need to bring a laptop computer with wireless internet capability. The class is 3.5 hours long and limited to 8 people in order to ensure plenty of individual attention. Tuition is $55 and Pre-registration is required.
